Why Wrestling Is the Best Thing You Can Give a Kid
Youth wrestling participation is at all-time highs — and girls wrestling is the fastest-growing high school sport in Ohio. There's a reason parents keep coming back to this sport.
Discipline
Show up, work hard, shake hands. Wrestling teaches kids that effort is the thing they control — a lesson that follows them into the classroom.
Confidence
There's no bench in wrestling and nowhere to hide. Kids learn they can do hard things — and it shows in how they carry themselves everywhere else.
Bully-Proofing
Wrestlers learn to stay calm under pressure and control a situation without throwing a punch. Confidence like that tends to end problems before they start.
The Best Base for Every Sport
Balance, body awareness, grit, conditioning. Coaches in every sport love athletes who wrestled first — it's the ultimate foundation.
Kids Classes: Mondays, Thursdays & Saturdays
The program is up and running, and the doors are open to every kid who's willing to try.
- Two levels, so every kid learns at the right pace. Intro (Thursday 5:00–6:00 PM & Saturday 2:00–3:00 PM) for kids new to the mat. Experienced (Monday 5:00–6:00 PM & Saturday 3:00–4:00 PM) for kids who have wrestled or done martial arts before. Coaches move kids up when they are ready.
- First class is free — book a spot on the calendar, show up in athletic clothes, and we handle the rest.
- Ages 4–14, grouped by size. Classes cap at 20 kids, and coaches split the room by size and experience every class — your 8-year-old drills with kids their own size, not with a 13-year-old.
- Parents watch every class from the front room. You see everything, start to finish.
- Family pricing: second family member 25% off, third and beyond 50% off.
- Led by Coach Chandler — collegiate wrestler, Army Combatives certified, and head of our wrestling program.
The best experience ever!!! The team was great with my husband and our grandson. Highly recommend this martial arts gym to anyone!

Kids Program FAQ
What martial arts do you teach?
This is a wrestling-first program — takedowns, positioning, and control — with techniques from jiu-jitsu, judo, and other grappling arts woven in as kids progress. There is no striking of any kind: no punches, no kicks, ever. Everything happens on padded mats under a coach's eye.
What ages can join?
Ages 4–14, and the room is split by size and experience every class, so kids drill with partners their own size. Classes cap at 20 kids so the coach knows every name. 15 or older? They're welcome to jump straight into our adult classes.
Is wrestling safe for young kids?
Wrestling has no punches and no kicks — it's controlled grappling on padded mats, and every class is coach-led from warm-up to the final whistle. Kids learn technique and body control first, they are always paired by size and experience, and classes cap at 20 kids so nobody is out of a coach's sight. Parents watch the whole class from the front room. It's one of the most coach-supervised sports a kid can do.
What does it cost?
Your child's first class is free — no card required to book it. After that, kids membership is $99/month unlimited: every class at their level, the same one-price, no-contract membership as the rest of the gym. Family pricing: the second family member is 25% off and the third and beyond are 50% off, so siblings (or a parent who trains too) don't double the bill.
Does my child need any experience?
None at all. The program is built for total beginners — most kids who join are stepping on a mat for the very first time, together.
What should my child bring to class?
- Athletic clothes (t-shirt and shorts or leggings — nothing with zippers or pockets)
- A water bottle
- Clean bare feet or wrestling shoes if you have them — street shoes stay off the mats
Can girls join?
Absolutely. Girls train in the same class as the boys, paired by size and experience like everyone else. Girls wrestling is the fastest-growing high school sport in Ohio, and this room is where it starts.
Their First Class Is Free.
