Why Wrestling Is the Best Thing You Can Give a Kid
Youth wrestling participation is at all-time highs — and girls wrestling is the fastest-growing high school sport in Ohio. There's a reason parents keep coming back to this sport.
Discipline
Show up, work hard, shake hands. Wrestling teaches kids that effort is the thing they control — a lesson that follows them into the classroom.
Confidence
There's no bench in wrestling and nowhere to hide. Kids learn they can do hard things — and it shows in how they carry themselves everywhere else.
Bully-Proofing
Wrestlers learn to stay calm under pressure and control a situation without throwing a punch. Confidence like that tends to end problems before they start.
The Best Base for Every Sport
Balance, body awareness, grit, conditioning. Coaches in every sport love athletes who wrestled first — it's the ultimate foundation.
The First 20 Kids Get the Founding Rate
This program launches this fall, and the families who help us build it get treated like it.
- Founding rate, locked in — the first 20 kids enrolled keep a founding-family rate.
- Two age groups planned: ages 5–7 and ages 8–12, so kids train with kids their own size and speed.
- Timed to fall wrestling preseason — young athletes heading into school or club seasons start with momentum.
- Led by Coach Chandler — collegiate wrestler, Army Combatives certified, and head of our wrestling program.

Kids Program FAQ
What ages can join?
We're planning two groups: ages 5–7 and ages 8–12, so kids are matched with training partners their own size and age. Have a middle or high schooler? Check out our youth & scholastic wrestling training instead.
Is wrestling safe for young kids?
Wrestling has no punches and no kicks — it's controlled grappling on padded mats, and every class is coach-led from warm-up to the final whistle. Kids learn technique and body control first, and they're always paired by size and age. It's one of the most coach-supervised sports a kid can do.
Does my child need any experience?
None at all. The program is built for total beginners — most kids who join this fall will be stepping on a mat for the very first time, together.
What should my child bring to class?
- Athletic clothes (t-shirt and shorts or leggings — nothing with zippers or pockets)
- A water bottle
- Clean bare feet or wrestling shoes if you have them — street shoes stay off the mats
Can girls join?
Absolutely. Girls wrestling is the fastest-growing high school sport in Ohio, and girls are welcome in every age group. We're also forming a dedicated girls wrestling program.
